Sundowners met May 13, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Oak Creek Park in Weatherford, Texas.

Meeting was called to order by President Valeta Hutchinson. Ed Foreman gave the invocation and Lester Hutchinson led the pledge. Valeta thanked our May Hosts, Linda and Ron Aten. Secretary Susan Foreman called roll. There were 18 members present representing 9 rigs.

There was no April meeting at the Samboree. Reta Elliott asked to make a correction to the March minutes. ($500 was given to Wounded Warriors in 2014 and $100 was given to Dogs for the Deaf instead of "rather than $100"). Pat Bratcher made the motion to accept the March minutes, with the corrections, and Ed Foreman seconded followed by approval of the  membership present.

Treasurer Reta gave her report. Kate was reimbursed for the cost of patches. There were no other disbursements or deposits. The motion to accept the report was made by Ann Walker, seconded by Curtis Walker and approved by the membership. Reta also reported that we received thankyous from Wounded Warriors, Dogs for the Deaf, West Texas VA and United Methodist Church Service Center.

Committee Reports: On Tuesday we bagged 42 bags of items for ages pre-k to early teen! For the children’s wings of Hendrick Hospital and Abilene Regional hospital. All items were donated by members. Pat Bratcher suggested we give some of the bags to Hendrick Home for Children. Pat will  a few bags to Hendrick and the Elliotts will deliver to the hospitals. Each bag had a label for age group and place for child’s name.

Pat Bratcher reported that the Chriistian Service Center is really busy with lots of donations going out daily. Dave Bertsch reported that the Food Pantry is looking forward to their new building.

Valeta said that she, Diana, Minnie, Pete and Betty all appreciated the cards/calls they received during their recent illnesses and surgeries.

Wagonmaster Bill Bratcher stated that the June Campout starts on the 8th in Glenrose at the Oakdale RV park and will be "hostless". A schedule will be in the newsletter. The April Dineout was held at Red Lobster in  Abilene on April 21st. Our May Dineout will be in Ballinger at Beefmasters restaurant with hosts Curtis and Ann Walker.

Old Business: Linda said volunteer hours can be sent to her new email address bi-monthly, monthly, every 3 months-however often we want to send them to her. These hours are very important because the door prizes at our rally come from our chapter volunteer hours that are reported at the end of the year and Camping World donates prizes for Rally depending on total volunteer hours and donation amounts reported on quarterly reports.

Reta knows of two couples who may be interested in visiting or joining and she will try to contact them again.

New Business:  Bill Bratcher brought up storing of all the miscellaneous items we use periodically. Currently they are storing several tubs and really need that space. Curtis Walker made a motion to do away with all of it and Ed Foreman seconded but it was not accepted by the membership. Further discussion is needed. Bill volunteered to sort and catalogue the items so at a later time we can better decide what to keep, what to dispose of and who can store what!

Ed moved that the meeting be adjourned and Nancy Bertsch seconded. All agreed.   Submitted by Sec. Susan Foreman

Please bring your donations then.  Christian Service Center---The Crains report that the center was shut down due to the bad weather last week but there were a large number of people needing help Monday.  Food Pantry: Linda Aten reported 1,176 families served in 2014. They are still Planning a move to new location in May. V.A.---Ron Aten will put together donations brought by members at the next meeting. Remember to bring your donations!  Membership---One previous visitor is not ready to join a club yet. The pastor who visited is still interested and receiving newsletters. Newsletter---Linda reminded members to send photos and/or recipes to her each month.  Sunshine Committee---Betty Martin is present and doing much better! She said she appreciated all the cards and prayers. State President Don Prater has been in the hospital in Phoenix with pneumonia and must see the lung specialist when he returns home. The Ways and Means Committee met before today's business meeting. They opened a discussion about way to make money. Diana commented that it is hard to work shifts at a booth at the Samboree with so few attending. Curtis made the point that people go to the Samboree for pleasure not to work in booths. Diana noted that we could make more money if Samboree could be in Abilene but the cost is prohibitive. Suggestion was made that each rig donate at least $25 instead of working a booth. Pat Bratcher made the motion for members to make donations as suggested. Ed Foreman seconded and the membership voted to accept the motion. Donations will used toward the charities we support.

Old business: Leon made a motion to reimburse Bill Bratcher (wagon master) the building use fee for the previous campout. Ann seconded and the membership voted to reimburse Bill.

New business: Our dineout is Tuesday the 17th at 5:30 at Moe's, a new restaurant at 4138 Ridgemont. It is next to the Lowe's on the south side. There were no hosts for the November campout  in Lampasas so the Foremans and the Elliotts volunteered.

Ed Foreman made the motion to adjourn and Ann Walker seconded, with all present in agreement.
